UK: Postdoctoral/Career Development Fellow
Postdoctoral/Career Development Fellow
An MRC Postdoctoral Fellowship/Career Development Fellowship is available to work withA Dr Simon Arthur. The major focus of the lab is on understanding how transcriptional regulation by mitogen-activated protein kinases regulates the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines and interferons in the innate immune system and how these same kinase cascades promote the resolution of inflammation via the activation of negative feedback mechanisms. Research in this area is critical because chronic inflammation is a contributing factor to the development of many diseases, including arthritis, systemic lupus, asthma, psoriasis and diabetes, yet relatively few effective drugs to treat chronic inflammation have been developed. Moreover, even the available drugs do not promote the resolution of inflammation but instead rely on long-term immunosuppression, which can result in serious side effects.
The MRC Protein Phosphorylation Unit is a major international centre for research on cell signalling.
