USA: Postdoctoral Fellowship - Taiwan Film and Visual Cultures

Washington University in St. Louis is seeking candidates for a postdoctoral fellowship in the areas of Taiwan and other East Asian film and visual culture studies. Appointment will be made in East Asian Studies and either in Film and Media Studies or the Department of Art History and Archaeology for one year, with possibility of reappointment for one or two successive years. Preferred areas of teaching and research will focus on Taiwan cinema and Taiwan visual cultures. The individual in this position should be able to teach mainland Chinese film traditions and Hong Kong film; preferably, he/she will be able to teach Japanese and Korean film as well. Alternatively, a visual cultures specialist should have a similar range of expertise in the visual arts.

The teaching load for the individual in this position will be three courses per year; additionally, it is also expected that he/she will actively carry on research and writing in this area, with presentations at scholarly conventions as appropriate.

Requirements: Candidates must have Ph.D. in hand by the beginning of the period of appointment.
