Ireland: PhD Position by Science Foundation Ireland (SFI)

A PhD candidate with strong interest in electron device physics and computational material science is sought. Background or familiarity with scientific computing is an advantage.

This project will focus on the simulation of field effect transistors made from semiconductor nanowires. The simulations will treat the device structure on the atomic scale, including realistic models of the semiconductor/oxide interface. The initial phase of the project will entail software development focused on
adding a self-consistent Poisson solver to an atomic scale electron transport simulator.

Positions are available immediately through funding provided by Science Foundation Ireland (SFI) and the successful applicant will work with a team of researchers developing quantum mechanical descriptions for future electron devices. Additional opportunities exist through the Irish Research Council for Science, Engineering and Technologys PhD scholarship programme: http://www.ircset.ie
