CANADA: Postoctoral Fellowship in Applied Cognitive Psychology

We are currently recruiting a postdoctoral fellow to join the research team of Sebastien Tremblay, associate professor at Laval University (Québec, Québec, Canada). Our team is interested in basic and applied research on memory,
attention and performance. We use a variety of computational and behavioral techniques such as macrocognition analysis, eye-tracking and functional simulation of complex tasks (microworlds). The postdoctoral researcher will have
the opportunity to work on projects related to cognitive systems engineering, dynamic decision making and distributed cognition.

KEY PROJECTS
Systems thinking: knowledge acquisition and representation. Study of human apabilities and limitations for understanding complex dynamic systems.

Cognitive systems engineering. Development of assessment tools to better integrate human decision makers and information systems.

Team cognition. Research on the cognitive and organizational factors that influence team efficiency in small groups.

FUNDING AND DURATION
Minimum salary = $ 40 000 CAD a year. Salary will be commensurate with experience.
Duration: 6-12 months, renewable for another 12 months.
Starting date: Winter 2009.

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS
English or French. Although Laval University is a French-speaking environment, most of the work related to the postdoctoral fellowship can be done in English.
